2016, wow big year, lots of wonderful Sojourning to Portugal, Morocco and deep within. my first encounters with ancient megalithic sites in Portugal was just breathtaking on so many levels of my being. I had visited this part of Europe in 1973. but saw non of these ancient wonders on that Sojourn…perhaps too young and silly then. Morocco was of cause another jewel to look upon and enjoy. the food, aromas, visual delights just to live its vibrant spiritual essence for a couple of weeks. Wow. lucky us. over the year I had squeezed in a couple of wonderful exhibitions. one in Fez ,and Sydney. I feel so privileged to be able to have these solo shows held in great gallery spaces. hoping to continue this process over next year…but where…?…lots of ideas. and yes lots of work putting it all together not forgetting the $$$$ss to pay for it…..Always a bloody downside to ones dreams and future adventures but this is the Way of the Outsider Artist. In-between these going’s on Susi & I managed a few wonderful Fessie lunches with fellow travellers. this I find a real treat. a good catch up time with friends over yummy food.
Christmas, this year around Balmain I noticed very little decorations on the houses, sad. but perhaps the residents are all in Byron Bay or else where chilling out. Sydney’s weather has been just so bloody hot —hovering around 32-6ce…so hot. feel as if i am in India . without the joys of being there. Susi and I visited my relatives in Orange about 4hrs drive west of Sydney. Arran……”Yes”…family dynamics, love it. but just so glad I live well away from everybody in Orange. love them all. but all seem to live a very separate life to mine or perhaps its my life style that is odd…? mmmm….. Susi and I did manage to visit the very new Orange Regional Museum. here we saw a wonderful exhibition called “Journeys-People Place Stories” realy worth a visit, the early history of the aboriginal peoples who had lived here peacefully for thousands of year before Captain Cook turned up with his English mates just 200 years ago. I can’t imagine how the aboriginal peoples felt upon encountering these weirdly dressed people’s from the northern hemisphere….their worst night-mare manifested I would think. back to this lovely new museum. the story of early colonial life of the Orange district was simple, but the impact was gentle on the eye-emotions, 10-out of 10 here for the curator’s effort. loved it, still on this Christmas subject. it is suppose to be Christ’s birthday. just silly. Christian silliness……just do the calendar sum’s…he was born in around early April. lets leave this here.
The drive back to Sydney was uneventful. we did stop off at Katoomba to see the great artist walk, Wow. some great huge wall art here, reminded me of our visit to Lisbon’s Artist colony, they were similar in content. huge, colourful and deep in content. Loved it. I would love to put a small contribution there…perhaps next year. all this artist-walk stuff made us hungry, so we ate at the very funky “The Yellow Delhi” a rabbit warren of little nocks, lots of back-packers soaking up the veg-food and atmosphere. this place is run by Christian group called vaguely the 12 Tribes. great service, the serving people seemed a little more then “Spaced out….God intoxication” I fear.food was yummy, coffee…just, back to hot old Sydney…..and its New Year’s Eve, I must say I can’t get excited about…..to be its like the Sacred tibetan Bardo-state, an in-between state. tomorrow being the 1st day of the new year as usual a Great time to make promise’s of change…same- same every year. If we really want change we need to do it “Now” not later. I do feel that there is lots of change in the air for for 2017…is this being Prophetic….? or am I about to continue conscireing my future into what we call existence….? Life’s little questions. keep us mentally alert….hoping. I am starting to Rabbit on & on time to stop.
Some Photos Enjoy. Mjw. 31/12/16
